KFC chiefs are facing more misery as it emerged many restaurants are now running low on gravy .
Last week the fast food chain was forced to shut nearly 700 outlets because of a lack of chicken, and the latest shortage has prompted a fresh wave of criticism.
Customers across the country posted on social media about the gravy crisis.
One wrote: "It’s bad when KFC runs out of chicken but it’s even worse that they run out of gravy."
Most restaurants are back open again, but some are offering a reduced menu due to distribution issues.
A spokesman said: "We’re working as hard as we can to get this sorted out.
We know that our gravy is a big favourite.
Last week the chain took out an advert apologising to customers and admitting the chicken shortage was "not ideal".
The chicken giant blamed "teething problems" with new delivery partner DHL, but it provoked a fierce reaction from customers.
Police in Tower Hamlets, London, revealed that some had even reported a closed KFC restaurant as a crime.
Distributer DHL blamed ’operational issues’ for the chicken shortage last week.
